AndrésMemberI have found a company, XVR Simulation, that develops training software for safety and security professionals. They seem to offer a platform of virtual reality for training. https://www.xvrsim.com/en/
Although our common challenge is not directly training, I think indirectly innovation in training is important at least for the pilots. It could be then useful to locate companies offering virtual reality training because in this context of pandemics it will surely be a necessary alternative to physical training
Does anybody know of more training platforms like this?

AndrésMemberHi all,
I have come across a study to quantify their effect on the visual function of conventional spectacle frames to check if they can reduce the visual field, sometimes causing absolute scotomas (blind spots). I think it is relevant because head-mounted devices have even more pronounced frames. The study compared performance on perimetric visual field tests with a head-mounted device vs regular eyewear. The device they used created a clinically meaningful visual field obstruction in the upper right quadrant. Defects were induced by the frame hardware design only and were not related to a distracting effect of software-related interference. Image analysis further demonstrated that many people wear the device near or overlapping their pupillary axis, which may induce scotomas and interfere with daily function. But more studies are necessary.

AndrésMemberDear Elsa, I think you mean SimulationDesk.
I have looked into their web site: https://nusura.com/simulationdeck/
It says: SimulationDeck is a private, accessible, cloud-based application that
powers training and exercises by replicating the Internet, including
social media applications (blogs, microblogs, video sharing sites) and
traditional media sites (TV, radio, print).Really, I am not sure how it works, although it sounds very useful. I would like to know more about it, or whether there exists other similar systems.

AndrésMemberI think it is very relevant to know whether and how the management software of Emergency Call Centers connect to the EHR system of hospitals, and whether that software uses open communication standards like HL7 and SNOMED.

AndrésMemberI am not sure if it is has been already deemed as an improvement, but combining wireless and GPS localisation with infrared sensors seems to me to be a better option, since you are right about the possible malfunctioning of electronic devices.

AndrésMemberYou are absolutely right, John. Here in Madrid we face the same problem when we try to connect the EHR systems of public hospitals, private hospitals and primary care centers.
Like in other similar systems, I do not think we will ever reach a common standard, but there exists the technological possibility of interchange health information using interoperability standards like HL7, SNOMED and others.
Ultimately it is an issue that lies in the hands of policy makers. What do you think?
